Men’s Shed Labrador Inc.

On 16 March, President Merv Holliday, Phil Jarvis and Len Thomson attended the morning assembly at Guardian Angels Primary School at Ashmore, where the first of the Buddy Seats made by us for the Griffith University Rotary Club was handed over.

The purpose of the Buddy Seat is that it gives a child somewhere to go and sit if they are perhaps being bullied, are feeling down or are not being included.  If a child is sitting on the seat then a senior pupil or for that matter any pupil can join them and help them.

This is a joint project between the Griffith University Rotary Club and Men’s Shed Labrador with a significant contribution from Bunnings Arundel.

The seat will be painted by the children and members of the Rotary Club.  This is the first of three seats we have made and we believe there might be more to follow.

It is appropriate that it was delivered today, as it is the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence and the slogan is “Bullying No Way”.
